Housing Task Force

Purpose

The Housing Task Force spearheads the Caucus’ efforts to protect LGBT individuals from discrimination in the sale or rental of housing, the financing of housing, and in brokerage services on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. This Task Force also works to ensure that LGBT individuals do not face discrimination or harassment in homeless shelters and transitional housing. With one fifth of transgender survey respondents reporting facing homelessness at some point in their lives, it is important that homeless shelters provide housing to transgender individuals based on their gender identity, rather than the sex they were assigned at birth.
